| The Community Art Gallery Initiative by SG Cares partner, Social Creatives, aims to make Singapore a more inclusive society. Community murals are created to nurture arts within a community as well as address issues that affect society. Two subtowns in Punggol were recently given a face lift with a serious dose of colour and vibrancy from July to October 2010. A series of 15 walls were transformed with the help of about 500 participants from various schools, corporate, and individual volunteers. One such volunteer was Daimler Financial Services Africa & Asia Pacific who came with 38 international volunteers to transform Edgedale Plains into a community art gallery, providing the heartlanders a subtle understanding of the Millennium Development Goals through colourful stokes and vivid images. The theme for their mural included the goals of empowering women, universal primary education, global partnership and environmental sustainability. The participants walked away feeling proud that each and every one of them became an artist for the day. This is what they had to say: "It was a fun and rewarding experience as it allowed the regional colleagues to mingle and show their team spirit in helping a community of another country." - Wai Kheng Loke "It was a team-building, creativity workshop, and community volunteering all rolled into one - a really fun and fulfilling activity!" - Sheryl Navarez "The painting experience was fun, relaxing, and in addition, rewarding as we contributed something to the community." - Werner Rossmanith "It was great fun giving to bring some 'colour' to the community of Singapore." - Felix Rimbach "Our children are our future. We are happy to create a colourful and positive environment, for them to grow personally and invest in their own future, for the benefit of our society." - Adi Ofek "This was a rewarding and enriching experience for me to give back to the community." - Nicola Barford The above are personal quotes and not official comments from the company.
